First week
Welcome to the Blog 2.0 - this time in english! Been in Manley for a week now and I’m finally starting to adjust. I was completely knackered the first couple of days due to a combination of jetlag and overheating (I went from a frosty sweden to a plus 28 degrees australian summer). Havent been able to find my own apartment yet so Ive slept on a broken but comfortable sofa at Andreas and Oskars place, spending the days on the their balcony drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes enjoying the kick-ass view (I still havent gone for a swim in the ocean). Manly is located about 10 minutes from Sydney (with ferry) and is best described as a beach community with lots of backpackers, surfers and local aussies, loads of pastel colors and fast food joints.
Turns out Manly is one of the most expensive areas in Sydney and my inital budget of 2000 kronors a month for rent wont work here. For a shared apartment you have to pay almost double that! But I already knew I would have to work sooner or later so.. Anyways, school starts next week so I hope I can find an apartment until then.
Other than financial issues and the fact that I’m dying to find a place by my own I’ve really enjoyed my stay so far. The weather has been awesome and its been great meeting up with old friends. We tried the local bars last friday and went to a wicked australian barbeque on monday to celebrate Andreas 30th anniversary. All good fun!
Andy got an aussie-hat for birthday pres.
Oskar enjoying the sofa.
One of the locals.
Can you spot the new guy?
K-man enjoying the birthday cake.
